What I have accomplished and experienced through the years
I started by applying out of high school for a position that is the equivalent of a paid explorer with a state police agency, I was not accepted. I was disappointed by this, but I was just not qualified at the time. I went on to find a state that allowed you to become a police officer at the age of eighteen with full police powers. I attended the academy and secured two out of six awards. I worked at a local police department for over three years, in that time securing commendations and awards for performance above and beyond the call of duty. During this time I attended college and received a two year degree in criminal justice with nearly a 4.0 average. I reapplied to the state agency that originally turned me down and was appointed to an academy class to become a state trooper. I have since had a rewarding career as a state trooper, and quickly made advancements. Again, I did this without "knowing someone" or having any family involved in politics or law enforcement.
